As of 2008, SEVCUG is dormant; no further meetings are currently scheduled. Contact Adrian Segar if you wish to change this state of affairs.

The Southeastern Vermont Computer Users Group held its first meeting in September 1991 (it seems like yesterday). Some fifty people attended our first presentation, by Adrian Segar, on Microsoft's new DOS 5. The first few meetings were held at Brattleboro High School, but we soon moved to a more intimate location at the Trinity Lutheran Church. Initially the group was called the Southeastern Vermont PC Users Group, but the name was soon changed to indicate that Macintosh users were welcome too. In April 1992, the first SEVCUG newsletter arrived in members' mailboxes, and the newsletter struggled on (including several unusual color issues) until the end of 1993, when the steering committee got tired of writing and soliciting articles and our last desktop publishing volunteer left town.

In early 1994, SEVCUG sponsored an extremely succesful public daytime meeting about the Internet. The meeting was held at the Brattleboro Retreat and over 150 people attended. The meeting was shown on Brattleboro Community Television. SEVCUG members continued to be active in working on Internet access for Southern Vermont, and eagerly embraced and supported SoVerNet's appearance in early 1995.

In November, 1997, Marlboro College's Graduate Center offered us our current wonderful meeting space, complete with computer projection equipment, a high speed dedicated internet connection, and comfortable swivel chairs. We did not resist...
