Computer Potpourri

The October Southeastern Vermont Computer Users Group meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 16, 7:00 PM, at The Marlboro College Graduate Center. After a short business meeting and our usual question and answer session, you'll enjoy a number of short computer-related demonstrations, a veritable Computer Potpourri, given by Steve Kohner and Adrian Segar.

Steve will demonstrate Parallels, software that allows you to run Windows, the Macintosh OS and other operating systems simultaneously on Macintosh computers.

Adrian will show:
  • the capabilities of a modern GPS unit, the Garmin nüvi 350, a four inch square box that knows where it is within 30' on the earth's surface and can provide directions to anywhere in the United States.
  • Skype, free software for Windows and Macintosh that gives anyone with an internet connection the ability to make phone calls free or at low cost to anywhere in the world.
  • Google Earth, software for Windows and Macintosh that allows you to take stunning virtual tours anywhere on earth, using an extensive library of satellite images. 3D views, and user-added multimedia content are other features of this free program.

Other short presentations are welcome! Call Adrian at 802-254-3566 to get added to the evening's schedule.
